Ben Nevis Summit, Winter

Ledge Route and Summit

A truly spectacular day out ascending up to below the mighty north face of Ben Nevis, then climbing up to the ridge of Ledge Route giving views of the whole mountain. From the top of the ridge we climb to the summit to top off an epic day out. Our Ben Nevis guides will help you all the way, experience of using crampons and and Ice axe is helpful.

Ben Nevis Summit, Winter

Ben Nevis Summit Path

The most popular and easiest way to ascend the highest mountain in the UK. Crampons and Ice axes are often needed and our Ben Nevis guides will introduce you to both, to ensure you are happy and confident in their use and  have the best possible chance of getting to the summit.

We often suggest tying an ascent into our Skills and Summit Course.

CMD Arete in winter, Ben Nevis

Carn Mor Dearg Arete

This stunning and never too hair-raising a ridge links Carn Mor Dearg to Ben Nevis, allowing for a great circular walk and providing spectacular views of the North Face. It is a brilliant alternative to the regular route and although slightly longer it is certainly one of the best ways to summit the mountain.

Ben Nevis stands 1344m tall and our ascent starts close to sea level, it is certainly a day not to be underestimated - most parties in winter will take between 6-9 hours depending on conditions. Usually there is consistent snow cover from halfway and if we are up there before many people have been up then we could be making the tracks up the mountain; this is an incredibly rewarding but tiring task. Having a Ben Nevis guide for the day can take the stress away!

We believe that one of the best ways to enjoy climbing Ben Nevis is to be well prepared, our experienced Ben Nevis guides have lots of experience looking after people on the mountain and we always have spare warm clothes, waterproofs, hats and gloves that our customers can use if they need to.

If you need to hire boots, crampons, ice axes, helmets, rucksacks, goggles etc then please let us know when booking and we can organise this through our partner company Scottish Mountain Hire. Or you can get in touch directly by emailing: info@mountainhire.co.uk

One of the most popular options is our 2 day Skills and Summit Course. This allows you to learn all the skills (and more) needed to be out in winter on day 1 and then pick a mountain to climb on the second day of the course. We find this makes the summit day much more enjoyable as you are more confident and know what to expect.

For more information and to book please get in contact and we can customise your days to your needs!
