Guided Ben Nevis Walks
Fancy enjoying your day out on the highest mountain in the UK?
I know we are biased however we think that using our experienced Ben Nevis guides is the easiest way to make this possible. All our guides know the mountain like the back of their hands. They know the best rest spots, photo spots, the safe routes and any shortcuts as well as being able to tell you about the flora, fauna and history of the mountain.
We organise group walks where you will be with other people or you can have your own private guide for the day. At Omega Guiding we pride ourselves on offering the best service and we also try to give back to the community. We donate to Mountain Rescue and give £1 to the Nevis Landscape partnership for every person we take up the mountain, this helps to keep the path in good condition .
There are a few different ways to get to the summit of Ben Nevis:
The Mountain Track
The mountain track is the most commonly ascended route on Ben Nevis. It is also sometimes referred to as the Pony track. It can take anywhere from 4-10 hours to go up and down this route, most commonly just under 8 hours on the mountain. It gives spectacular views of Glen Nevis and Loch Linnhe on the ascent and the track is mostly obvious and good under foot.
The CMD Arete
The Car Mor Dearg Arete is a ridge which joins on to the South-East corner of Ben Nevis. It curves round from the summit of Carn Mor Dearg to the east of Ben Nevis. It gives breathtaking views of the North Face and over into the Mammores mountain range. It can be very exposed on the ridge and the route is longer and more challenging that the mountain path, it does not follow a path for a large proportion of the route. We usually allow 8-10 hours for this route.
Ledge route is started from below the North face of Ben Nevis. From the CIC hut we take a zig-zagging line up through the steeps cliffs of the mountain, following path at first then onto some easy scrambling then follow the ridge to the top. You can then either drop back down the mountain or better still continue to the summit for your views. This route requires a good level of fitness and helmets. We have instructors for Ledge route who are highly qualified and can make sure to look after you on the steeper ground. If this sounds like fun then check out our scrambling courses as well!
